Supporting Young People: The Liverpool Apprenticeship Scheme

November 22, 2011

Our Labour Council was proud to announce the launch of the Liverpool Apprenticeship Scheme earlier this month. Providing apprenticeships was one of Labour’s key pledges when we took control of the City Council in May 2010 and hundreds have already been created through various schemes.

Now Cabinet Member for Skills and Employment, Cllr Nick Small has announced that the LAS will be set up in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, Liverpool Community College and the Eldonian Group.

The scheme will provide 1,300 jobs with qualifications for 16 – 19 year olds especially in sectors which do not usually recruit apprentices, and those which are a priority for the region, such as the low carbon economy.
